Stage 6

Stage Distance: 166km

Total Distance: 947km

Today was a short day “only” 100 miles. That is how strange this tour has become for us all. What was once a major achievement is now an everyday occurrence. I remember my first 100 mile ride and what an accomplishment it was, it wasn’t that long ago. Now I’m doing more than that every day. Today was, according to our lead cyclist Phil Deeker, a “recovery day”. Oh yes, riding as much as most UK sportives as recovery.

However, what was to be our recovery day became a fairly hard day for us all with the appearance of the Mistral, the strong winds which curse this part of France. This made for a hard day cycling when we had all geared up for an easy day. Still, another stage chalked off and we are now heading off to the Pyranees.
