Today was one of those “just have to get it done” days. The ferry overnight seemed very warm and I was very dehydrated, so didnt sleep much. Disembarking from the ferry and our bikes were already unloaded on the dock and we prepared for a short (the race has a time trial this stage) day around town. The time trial is raced at full speed and maximum exertion by the pros along closed roads. All the roads on the tour are closed to traffic, something we dont have the luxury off. This meant that we had to contend with early morning rush hour traffic. This also meant that our route was slightly modified from the actual tour route.
Still, it had to be done so that we did the whole route, so off we went for an hour and a half jolly around the city of Nice.
This did mean that we arrived at the hotel nice and early where I took advantage of the priority lifers were given for massages today and booked 20 minutes back and leg massage. A quick change and went for a walk with Trevor and Chris, then had lunch at the beach. This still left plenty of time to relax in my room, something I desperately needed.
4 days in and still going. A long day tomorrow though with another 4 climbs.
