So, my adventure began at 3am, leaving for the airport, a flight to Paris then onwards to Figari in Corsica. First snag of the trip came upon arriving in Paris to discover my phone would not connect to any networks, despite having used it abroad before and been told yesterday that it was fine (it would take three days for that problem to be sorted out, leaving me unable to keep in touch).
Second snag of the day came upon landing at Figari to discover no taxis to get us to Porto-Vecchio. Despite having a fluent French speaker with us and a long list of taxi firms, apparently no taxi drivers felt like coming to the airport to pick us up that day. Eventually we did manage to get to our hotel in two separate taxis but arrives only ten minutes before our briefing (we had anticipated being there a good hour or so before).
Dinner was OK, though we all agreed we could have eaten more. I hadn’t eaten since my bacon roll and beer in Edinburgh at 4:30am, so would have eaten whatever was thrown in front of me. Following the final part of the briefing I headed straight to bed, excited about what was coming up.
