March, why is winter still here?

My revelation on my first 100k ride made me both concerned and enthused at the same time. Concerned as to where I was in my tour preparation and enthused in that it was up to me to sort it out. I think concern was forefront in my mind however.

My first ride of the month saw me visit my parents in Fife. This 70km ride I completed in under 3hr30. Perhaps it was riding around the same places I rode as a child but this ride was the first ride all year I can unreservedly say I enjoyed. I found myself playing on the bike as I rode home and returned beaming and feeling good.

The next week I wasn’t beaming quite as much as I cut short a planned ride after 30km due to the falling snow. Again I returned home but this time unable to feel hands and feet and wondering why the winter would not just get lost. The rest of the months outdoor rides I limited to shorter city rides and found a nice loop of Arthurs Seat which let me practice my hill climbing.

Weekday evenings were even more miserable so I continued my twice weekly visit to spin at Lifescycle, much more preferable to the turbo at home.
